Mangalitsa Pigs

Get Mangalitsa pigs, bred and raised right here in Maine! These beauties are a heritage breed from Hungary. Their unique look and sweet temperament make them a great addition to any homestead. These guys are low maintenance and hardy, great for Maine winters. They take 12-15 months to mature to market weight, longer than the larger breeds, but worth the wait!

Mangalitsa pork offers several benefits, making it a prized choice for meat lovers. Known for its rich marbling, this pork is exceptionally tender and flavorful. The high intramuscular fat content enhances moisture retention during cooking, resulting in superior taste and texture compared to conventional pork. Additionally, Mangalitsa pork tends to be more nutritious, containing higher levels of healthy monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. I would describe it as more similar to beef than it is to conventional pork. I recommend these pigs to people who would like to raise their own beef, but don’t have the space or hay available. They have lesser space requirements and next to no dietary restrictions! Turn your scraps into a beautiful red meat.

These pigs do well foraging, but do root a lot, so be prepared for that! They generally respect an electric-only fence, and are content to stay where they are, provided with proper shelter, food, and water. If you are interested in an upcoming litter of piglets, please contact us. All live animals must be picked up at the homestead in Shapleigh, Maine.

Pricing for piglets is $250 for feeders and $300 for breeders.
