We encourage plenty of research before diving into the world of poultry. If you are a first time chicken owner, we encourage you to reach out with any questions before making a purchase! Minimum purchase of 2 for all birds.

Our Hatching Program

We run six GQF 1502 Sportsman incubators from February through July. This gives us the capacity to hatch over 1,700 birds a month! We currently do not keep many adult birds, but team up with local farms to bring a wide variety of poultry to you. We carefully vet other farms to ensure the breeding birds get proper housing, care, and nutrition so that they produce the healthiest chicks. We appreciate all of the local homesteads that work with us to bring you ethically raised, and locally sourced birds. If you own a farm in the area and raise purebred poultry, feel free to reach out if you are interested in joining the program!

Benefits of Local Birds

Why purchase from us? There are several important benefits when it comes to sourcing your poultry locally.

  • The birds are well suited for our local climate. We only hatch winter-hardy birds that excel in New England winters.

  • Skip the shipping. Thousands of birds lose their lives in the shipping process from large hatcheries every year. Either from over-heating, freezing, starvation, or mishandling. Purchasing birds locally cuts out this step, and results in reduced stress on the animals.

  • Animal welfare standards. Many hatcheries keep their birds in small breeding coops and chicks go through a conveyer belt system before making it to your home. The birds we source eggs from are either free-range or kept in large breeding coops with enrichment. Chicks are kept in spacious brooders from the day they hatch until the day you pick them up!

  • Rooster roundups. We only offer straight run chicks, as vent sexing is a skill I do not yet possess. We offer to take roosters back for those who can not keep them for any reason. We also take roosters that came from other farms or hatcheries. Roosters do end up being processed. Dates for rooster roundups will be posted on our Facebook page, so be sure to follow.
